MC Scow Fleet 4

About MC Scow Fleet 4 Minimize

We are the “Southern-Most” fleet of MCScows based at the Lake Eustis Sailing Club (LESC) in Eustis, Florida.  We race every other weekend on Lake Eustis along with other fleets (Flying Scots, Wayfayers, and Open Portsmouth).  If you have not visited the Lake Eustis website, take the opportunity!  LESC offers boat-loan programs, clubhouse and boat storage, and a junior sailing program for all of its members! Be sure to contact us for more details!

Fleet 4 is one of the oldest MC fleets and has been a fixture on Lake Eustis for 20 years.  We have a showing of 12-25 boats on any given race day with 35 Fleet 4 MCs!  Want to try an MC?  We'll find you a boat for trial.  New to the MC or sailing?  You'll find our group is always happy to give advice and we have many practice races.  We are also beginning a program to keep newer skippers alongside more experienced ones for longer periods of time.  So if you haven't been an MC'er and you live in Florida, come on by and try one!

Scoring Posted for the 2008-2009 Sailing Season! - Wednesday, May 20, 2009

With 41 competitors on the line this year, and Fleet 4 winning almost every major regatta they entered (and trophying in all-but-1!), you can safely say this was our finest year yet!  Scoring is posted for Series-To-Dates and for the Year.  Recap coming from the previous weekend (I hope!).

And the weather continues to cooperate... - Tuesday, April 21, 2009

Scott Tillema (2107) and Jon Pomerleau (2367) were both on top of their games this weekend with Scott easily winning the weekend on a 2-1-1-6.  Jon would have challenged this with a 1-2-2, if not for his "drop-out" race.  That puts Scott into the lead for the quarterly series.  However, with throwouts Jon is only 1 point behind him and Andy Fox (1345) and David Moring(2188) are only 2 points behind Jon!  Overall for the year, Geoff Moehl used his great consistency to move to 3rd place overall but only 18 points is the total separation from 3rd to 7th!  Jon has written a great Recap - please "Read More" to view!

What a beautiful Saturday (oh... and scoring posted)! - Monday, March 02, 2009
With temps up to 80 and winds 10-16, Saturday will go down in the books as one of the most perfect days on Lake Eustis for Fleet 4! 14 boats were on the line and Dave Moorhouse (2074) again proved his medium-air superiority finishing 1-2 with an OCS in the 2nd race! David Moring (2188) got back into the feel of things after a rocky start to finish 4-1 and take 2nd. Scott Tillema (2107) also found the wind to his liking and took 3rd out of the "sailing sailors" (remember, our RC duty people get 3rd place finishes for their selflessness!). Unfortunately, Sunday was the forecast front with the temps going from 72 at 7 a.m. to 57 by 10 a.m. and winds 20+ knots. read more ...

Fleet 4 welcomes 2 experienced sailors into LESC! - Tuesday, February 03, 2009
David Helmick is the proud new owner of MC 2393! While the name "David" is definitely not new in our Fleet, this one is an experienced Lightning and dinghy sailor who was already in the middle of the Fleet on his "try-out day". Congrats David and welcome to LESC & Fleet 4!

Andy Fox's sailing resume is also extremely extensive and varied - he just added to it with the purchase of MC 1345! For those of you who have not already seen him sail in the front pack of the Fleet, a little background: Any is a former boat-builder of the Thistle for years, Andy also sailed just about everything out there including competing for the Laser Olympic berth(s) in 1996.

Wow - 2 more great sailors adding to our competition and enjoyment; please make sure to introduce yourself to David and Andy as they get to know us and the MC!
